About Laser Genesis

Laser skin resurfacing is quickly becoming one of the most popular nonsurgical skin rejuvenation treatments on the market today. This advanced treatment uses laser technology to improve fine lines, and lightens skin irregularities such as blemishes, sun spots, discoloration and uneven skin texture. New Orleans plastic surgeons Dr. David A. Jansen and Dr. Ravi Tandon use laser skin resurfacing to also remove certain skin lesions. With precision and control, the laser beam hones in and targets localized, trouble areas on the face. Dr. Jansen and Dr. Tandon use the advanced Laser Genesis system for patients desiring a clearer complexion and brighter glow. The Genesis system treats skin damage layer-by-layer with outstanding results.

Ideal Candidates

You may want a Laser Genesis treatment if you want to reduce skin redness, decreases pore size, and improve the appearance of scars. Other skin issues that can be treated with a Laser Genesis treatment are rosacea, uneven skin texture, visible veins, age spots, and wrinkles. A Laser Genesis treatment can be performed on your face, neck, and/or chest. A Laser Genesis treatment can be combined with other nonsurgical procedures, like a facial, BOTOX, or dermal fillers. A member of our aesthetic team will create your custom treatment plan to meet all your concerns and goals.

Procedure Technique

Laser skin resurfacing removes the outer layer of skin and heats the underlying layer to stimulate growth of new collagen fibers. During this process, damaged skin cells on the outer layer are stripped away, leaving a new layer of healthy skin to grow. If small sections of the face are being addressed, the procedure will typically take about 45 minutes. A full-face treatment, or larger areas of skin, can take up to two hours. Multiple sessions are sometimes needed to attain the desired results.

What to Expect

Laser Genesis is a quick treatment that does not require any recovery time, so you can resume your normal activities. Unlike other skin treatments, Laser Genesis does not typically leave the skin red or swollen so it can be performed on the same day as a special event. You should avoid prolonged sun exposure after your treatment since your skin may be sensitive. For your best results, you should schedule 3 – 5 treatments, which should be performed 2 – 4 weeks apart.
